The Nigeria Professional Football League oversees 20 of the most competitive football clubs. It is the elite League of the Nigerian Football Federation. As such, it’s the central focus point for football in the country.
Exciting news for the world of Nigerian football is a new partnership recently announced. A deal was struck between the league and the country’s leading bookmaker, Bet9ja. The sponsorship was inspired by the immense show of interest in the Nigerian elite football division on the bookmaker’s platform. Bet9ja has said that the collaboration is a wonderful opportunity to help develop and grow elite league football in the country. Both financially and from a structural point of view.
Growing Football The Main Goal
Commenting on the deal at a special event organized for announcing the new partnership was Bet9ja Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication, Femi Osobajo. According to Osobajo, Bet9ja is the biggest sports betting operator in the country. But the lion’s share of the activities on the bookmaker’s platform comes from overseas football leagues.
Osobajo continued by saying that the Nigeria Professional Football League is in need of every bit of support possible. This is why the bookmaker is excited to be involved with the league in such a way. The hope is for the partnership to lead to even more and bigger opportunities. And to offer exposure for the Nigeria Professional Football league.
The collaboration between the bookmaker and the league will see Bet9ja in the capacity of “Official Supporter/Sponsor of the Nigerian Professional Football League”. It will do so under the category “Betting and Gaming”.
Also in attendance at the press conference was NPFL Chairman Shehu Dikko. Bet9ja Head of HR Kikky Boboye, and Bet9ja Head of Special Projects, Harry Iwuala were there too. Several more members of the football league were present too. This made the event a big-media affair.
Gunners Off To Huge 2022
Kicking off the 2021/22 NPFL season were the Sunshine Stars. The team scored their first win with ease. They secured a 3-0 victory over the Kano Pillars.
The match was held at the Stars temporary home ground at Dipo Dina Stadium in Ogun State. The Gunners were a consistent force on the attack all throughout. Even so, despite many chances forfeited during the first half, their big breakthrough only came during the 69th minute. Kamaru Adebari made a magical shoot high into the box.
The Sunshine Stars will next play a South West Derby opposite the Shooting Stars. While the Kano Pillars will host the Niger Tornadoes.
