President Ruto’s visionary approach is ready to revolutionize Kenya’s betting and gaming landscape. The task force appointed by the president is a two-tier committee of 22 members. They have been set to serve for three months, beginning on 16 February 2023. Dr Raval Narendra will chair one of the technical committee tiers, with Gideon Thuranira serving as deputy.
The steering committee is a powerhouse of expertise, representing various ministries such as Interior, Social Protection, National Treasury, Culture and Heritage, the Solicitor General’s office and the Council of Governor’s office.
Meanwhile, the technical committee, under the astute leadership of Dr Linda Musumba, is fortified by exceptional talents, including Wanjiku Wakogi, Dr Eric Aligula, Collins Kiprono, and Peter Mbugi. Other members are Fred Mbasi, Geoffrey Malombe, Eric Korir, Wilson Njenga, Catherine Ochanda, and Murimi Murage.
Embracing an innovative approach, the task force will shape its own procedural framework while engaging in insightful forums and consultations geared towards fulfilling its mission. President Ruto’s overarching vision is to foster a responsible betting and gaming culture in Kenya.
The team’s paramount objective is to craft a comprehensive policy and implementation plan to pave the way for the National Lottery’s seamless operationalization.
