ICE Africa Heading To Johannesburg

Johannesburg Gears Up for ICE Africa Gaming Expo

Game enthusiasts will be converging in Johannesburg in their thousands for the ICE Africa Conference and Exhibition in October. Set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday the 3rd and 4th, the entertainment congress will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

This spectacle provides gaming operators, regulators, and suppliers from all over Africa the opportunity to network face to face.  Information will be shared on best practices and the most state-of-the-art products and services from leading innovators in the industry can be viewed in one place.

An Invaluable Industry Event

Seun Mehtowe, the Head of Advertising and Partnership sales at DAZN, a subscription video streaming service owned by Perform Group, explained how important ICE Africa will be.

He described it as a very powerful platform for stakeholders to network from within. He stated that it was thus crucial for decision-makers, industry executives and operators to attend to get valuable knowledge and insight into their business and discover new opportunities to help them increase their commerce.

What’s On The Table?

Those who attend the exhibition can look forward to a programme of engaging content that will cover a wide range of topics. Thought leadership will be covered, along with branding, integrated resorts, marketing, online versus retail, sports and eSports, training, and regulation. 65 experts will be contributing to the learning streams at the event.

The conference will also be hammering out issues of growth in streaming services, and detailing how this will impact sports betting in Africa in general, and horse racing in particular.

New Technologies, More Demand

Methowe believes that new technologies, and streaming in particular, will serve to create additional demand from upwardly mobile players. This, in turn, will lead to an inevitable transformation in how betting brands and broadcasters engage with their markets.

Methowe said that there is no doubt that that technology will dramatically transform how live and original sports content is consumed. He added that the new entertainment markets like Virtual and Fantasy Football are trends that gambling and betting industry professionals will need to start exploring.

The metropolis of Johannesburg is slowly but surely becoming a Smart City. Technology is being optimised to improve municipal functions and drive growth in its economy while improving the overall quality of life for its inhabitants. Thanks to smart technology, there are now brand-new methods of communication and the accompanying economic opportunities for the city and those who live there to benefit from.

Johannesburg is proud to host ICE Africa because it links perfectly with its plans to start using smart technologies to further sustainable service delivery solutions. This is alongside plans to improve citizen welfare efficiency via improved governmental and social resources.

Johannesburg is certainly upwardly mobile and has aspirations for social and material success. Huge numbers of people are digesting data on entertainment, news, and sports platforms, and social media contributes to this assimilation of information.

Methowe ended off by saying that gaming industry content providers are aimed at creating sustainable models. With the massive population base in Africa over 1 billion people, the potential is enormous.
